Do You Really Need a Website in 2025?

If you’re running a small business, launching a side project, or even just thinking about getting your name out there – chances are you’ve wondered whether a website is worth it anymore.

With social media, Google Business, and everything else floating around, it’s a fair question.

Here’s my honest take: a website isn’t always essential. But for most people I work with, it’s one of the best decisions they make.

Let’s break it down.

Social media isn’t a substitute

Lots of people rely on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok to promote what they do – and that’s fine. But you don’t own those platforms. They can change the rules, limit your reach, or disappear altogether (remember MySpace?).

A website gives you something that’s yours. No algorithms. No distractions. Just your space to tell your story.

You don’t own your social media – but your website is yours. No algorithms. No noise.

It builds trust

People expect to find a website when they search for you. If they can’t, it can feel like something’s missing – even if your product or service is top notch.

A simple, clear website instantly makes you look more professional and trustworthy. It tells people you’re real, you’re serious, and you care about what you do.

It helps you get found

Even a one-page website with basic SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) can make a big difference. People are out there Googling exactly what you offer – you just need to show up.

Your Facebook page won’t show in search the same way. But a well-built site will.

It’s easier (and more affordable) than you think

One of the biggest reasons people put off getting a website is the idea that it’ll be stressful, time-consuming or expensive.

That’s where I come in. I work with people who aren’t digital-savvy – or just don’t have time to figure it all out. You don’t need to know the tech. You just need someone who’ll make it simple.

Final word

If you’ve been on the fence about getting a website, you’re not alone. But if you want something that works for you – not just a social media platform – then it’s absolutely worth it.
